Chips and Guacamole

Like father, like son. Looks like Casey is taking after his daddy's love of tortilla chips and guacamole. Everytime, Casey would see me, or smell me eating tortilla chips, he would run over to me, and sign 'More'... So, I would give him tortilla chips.. One at a time. He would take it, walk away, and eat it, and then come back for more... Then, one time, he saw me dipping the chips into some green looking stuff. Or course, he wanted to try. Turns out, he too likes his tortilla chips dipped in guacamole.

At this point, he asked for a seat at the table, so he could dip his own chips..

Happy Birthday... To Me

Its August, and you might be wondering why I am writing an entry titled Happy Birthday. Afterall, Casey's birthday is in Feb. Well because it was recently my birthday. Not a milestone bday, where it signifies a new era.. Such as #16 ( driver's license), or #18 ( legally buying cigarette's, or dirty magazines), or #21 ( ummm, legally buying alcohol, duh), or #25 (lower car insurance rates). I have long since passed all those, about the only one left for me is #65 ( senior discount). Dont get me wrong, I had a good birthday, with an awesome gift... My birthday cake. I enjoyed it, but not nearly as much as I enjoyed feeding it to Casey and watching his reactions.

For those of you who dont know sign language, I'll give you MY PERSONAL translation. ( A translation I am confident you wont find elsewhere.) When he touches his hands together, it means, "Oh he!! yeah, gimme more!". When he pats his stomach, he's saying "Damn, that's some good ice cream cake".

I know exactly what to get for his bday.. ICE CREAM CAKE!

Fireworks

As July 4th approached, we had some decisions to make. Should be tie Casey up like a dog and make sure the fireworks dont cause him to freakout? Do we put him to bed early and have him sleep thru the whole ordeal? (like we did last year, when he was 5 months old) Or do we keep him up late, and have him experience the annual fireworks celebration at Wilson Park?

Little Casey had his parents and his grandparents with him, and he saw fireworks for the first time! We are trying for a family portrait, but Casey was focused on the fireworks!Casey was absolutely mesmerized by the fireworks. I spent more time watching his facial expressions than I did watching the actual fireworks.

Train Station

For July 4th, Casey's grandma and grandpa came to visit. They took the train up from San Diego, and Casey went to the train station to meet them. It was also his first up-close look at a real-life train.

Casey catching his first glimpse of a train.
Casey is pointing at the train. He seems to have developed a habit of using his middle finger as his pointer. While I think this is hilarious, he sometimes actually uses his correct finger to point. Bummer..
The train attendant warned us to back up, as trains create suction as they pass. I guess she was worried that little Casey would get sucked under the train. We gladly took her advice and Casey watched the rest of the approach from a few feet away.
Look Casey, who is going to come out of the train?
It Nai-Nai and Ye-Ye!!
Family photo. Dated 7-10... (Before Casey's little sibling arrives in 2-11)!!!!

Checks and Balances

I have realized that there is a natural system of Checks and Balances in place in our house. Leave the table without pushing in your chair? Then you will find Casey climbing on top of the chair, using it as a ladder to climb onto the dining room table.. Where, if you leave a glass of liquid, Casey will spill it.
If you leave the kitchen gate open... or more accurately, leave the kitchen gate closed, but unlocked... Casey will manipulate the gate lock mechanism to open the gate, and going into the kitchen. Once he is in the kitchen.. well, picture a horny teenager at the Playboy mansion.. He can goto the tubberware cabinet, and dump all the tubberware on the kitchen floor.. Or he can grab the pots and pans and bounce them off the tile floor. Or he can go for the pantry, and rip everything off the bottom two shelves and throw them on the floor. Or he can head to the cabinet with the strainers and... yup spread them all over the floor.
If you leave the living room gate open.. you can lose Casey. Since he has recently figured out how to climb up and down stairs, once he sees that gate open, he bolts for the freedom, and might venture upstairs, or downstairs, or where ever he wants.
If you leave a toilet cover up, Casey will play in the water... Yuck.
If you leave a remote control anywhere he can reach them, you will return to the remote and find it soaking wet, and likely 'reprogrammed' thanks to random button pushing.

The Emperor

Ok, maybe he isnt really 'The Emperor', but he is straight runnin the show at our house... Little dude is boss.
Here he is addressing his adoring masses.
Sitting on his throne.
My work here is done. Walking off without his security detail.
The lighter side of his royal highness
Uh oh. The Emperor is gettin tired.

Busted

Casey got Daddy busted. Evidently, I didnt push my dining room chair in after I left the table. Casey took full advantage, and used the chair to climb onto the dining room table... Where he found Daddy's water glass. Doing his best to imitate Daddy, Casey attempted to drink out of the glass. Needless to say, he was found soaked, and sitting in a puddle. Of course, I got in trouble... Thanks kiddo...

Attempting to drink water from a big boy glass.BUSTED. Got that guilty look on the face.
Ah screw it, I'll just smile. I'm cute, no one can get mad at me. Let Daddy get yelled at.
