Pay for Performance

I was recently informed that Sydney got paid... for pooping in Nai-Nai's house. A head scratcher to be certain. After a little investigating, I learned of a little background. Apparently, when Casey was young(er) Nai-Nai bribed paid him to poop in the toilet in her house. I have heard about various methods to potty train, this was not one of them. But hey, it makes sense. I'd gladly trade a couple of bucks for the need to clean up pee and poop from floors, carpets, beds, etc.. Small price to pay. Furthermore, Casey was only paid for his inaugural toilet poop. He, or his union rep didn't negotiate payments for any subsequent poops. Would those have been hardball negotiations? Would someone intentionally lay a huge stinky mess in the middle of the living room in order to improve their bargaining position?

Once Sydney learned there was money at stake, he camped on the toilet and grunted. He didn't necessarily NEED to poop, but properly motivated by cash money, he persevered and got the job done. Details of the payment plan have not been disclosed; did he get paid based on volume, length or number of nuggets?

What I do know is that I was shortchanged. I lived pooped in that very house for years, and I never once got paid for my efforts.

Season Finale

We just concluded Casey's first full season of t-ball. He improved so much during the course of the season. During he last week of batting practice, Daddy took a turn pitching to all the kids. An idea was born; I then asked Casey if he wanted Daddy to pitch to him during his last game. Game day came, and indeed, I got to pitch to Casey. He went 2-3 off me. I don't know who was happier, him or me.

Dear Casey, thanks for sharing that moment with me. I'll remember it forever!

SD Trip- Spring 2014. Part 4 of ???

Apparently, I'm trying to set the record for most posts on one single topic. Obviously, that topic is the Spring 2014 Wang family gathering. During the weekend, we had our annual easter egg hunt. We employed a reverse stagger start... The youngest member of the family (Wang Bing Xian) got to start first. A few minutes later, Wang Xue Xian burst out of the starting gates and joined the fray. Cousin Elena patiently waited her turn, and when cousin Chantal finally woke her happy a$$ up, she managed to collect all the 'high hanging fruit eggs.' Just kidding, Chantal was actually awake for the start of the hunt, she just graciously let her younger cousins and sibling go first. The hunt was supervised by Ye-Ye, who sat in his chair and observed the festivities.

SD Trip- Spring 2014. Part 3 of...

During our SD trip last month, one of the activities was coloring easter eggs. It was quite a spread that was laid out in the backyard; all the cousins got in on the act.

A heartwarming act

Yesterday we went to a 'hamburger and fries' store. Casey and Sydney were eating their burgers. We have their burgers cut in half, and each child was on his last half. Sydney accidently dropped his meat patty on the ground. Since it hit the floor, and was dirty, we didn't let him eat it. We instructed him to just eat the bun. Sydney dipped his bun into his ketchup and took one bite. By this time, Casey had seen what happened, opened his burger, tore his remaining half patty in two equal pieces and GAVE SYDNEY ONE PIECE. It was a selfless, heartwarming act. The act itself was amazing enough, but surrounding details made it even more touching. Casey did it with such speed; he didn't have time to scheme and plan, he JUST REACTED. It was straight from his heart. The act was impromptu... No one suggested or hinted to Casey to do ANYTHING. It was all him.

Casey, you made mommy and daddy so proud!

SD Trip- Spring 2014. Part 2 of...

One of the highlights of a Nai-Nai and Ye-Ye visit is fresh baked cookies! This time, the young ones got to help Nai-Nai bake.. and eat... and eat... I'm not sure what ingredients they put in those cookies, but it sure makes people act silly!

SD Trip- Spring 2014. Part 1 of...

We recently visited Nai-Nai and Ye-Ye in San Diego. Cousins Chantal and Elena (and their parents) came to visit also. So, it was wonderful family reunion. We packed so much into the time we had together, I decided to break the posts up into manageable section. One day, Casey wanted to goto 'The park with the fire truck'. While Elena wanted to goto the beach. Of course, it was before noon, so Chantal was still sleeping; and Sydney wanted to goto the park, but not the beach. Somehow, we got Casey and Elena to compromise. In the morning, we went to the fire truck park (San Carlos Rec Cen) and in the afternoon, we went to Mission Beach. The kids enjoyed the park, pretty much giving equal time to all the appratus'. After lunch, Sydney did not want to goto the beach. So, me Casey and Elena ventured down to Mission Beach. Once we hit the sand, I never saw them again. OK, that's not exactly accurate, of course I could SEE THEM AT ALL TIMES, but only from a distance. They took off for the shore break, and splashed in the water for a solid hour within stopping. After that, it was time to build a sandcastle. They befriended/ enlisted other youths, and together they built sandcastle(s)...
