SD Visit

Our last trip to SD got postponed because of illness. Recently, we were all finally healthy enough to travel south and visit Nai-Nai and Ye-Ye. In the days immediately preceding our trip, Da Boys were SO excited to go. Casey would count down the days until we were leaving. As has become our new family tradition, our first stop upon hitting San Diego was Cotija Taco Shop. Casey reached a milestone this trip... He ate a whole tray of rolled tacos with guacamole! This is gonna get expensive...

And he asked to go back to the 'rolled taco store' Saturday... and Sunday... And he was truly upset when we didn't make it there on Sunday, before heading back to LA. Besides eating rolled tacos, we also visited the Wild Animal Park. Casey's favorite part was riding the tram through Africa. That boy is pretty knowledgable about animals; I was very impressed. Sydney's favorite part was seeing the elephants. Interesting, Da Boys were afraid of the hot air balloon. We also took a family trip to Coronado island. Da Boys really enjoyed driving across the Coronado bridge.

One of the initial purposes of taking the trip was to get Ye-Ye some exercise walking. We got to the boardwalk, Ye-Ye walked for a few VERY FEW minutes, and wanted to go eat. So, we had a nice lunch overlooking the bay and the downtown SD skyline. We did find time to take a family picture...

Lizards

Da Boys attended a friends birthday party, and the featured attraction was lizards. They were exposed to all kinds of creepy crawlers. And by exposed, I mean EXPOSED. They held em, they had em sitting on their heads, wrapped around their necks. When they got home from the party, they immediately found the box of toy lizards, spread them out on the table and played and played. What a wonderful, educational experience which stimulated their imagination.

Disneyland, We're going to Disneyland!

For Da Boys birthday, we decided to take them on a 'surprise birthday adventure' in lieu of a party. Without telling them where they were going, we packed them in the van, and drove to our destination... and parked in the parking structure... and boarded the tram. Where the conductor called out over the loudspeaker, 'Welcome to Disneyland'. Casey heard that, and excitedly exclaimed, 'Disneyland, We're going to Disneyland!'

Well, California Adventure, but close enough. We started out split up, because Sydney missed the height requirement by ohhh so little... Sorry little buddy, next time though... We hit all the highlights; Grizzly River Run, Radiator Springs, Soaring Over California, Monsters Inc, Toy Story, Bug's Life and the merry-go-round. When asked, Casey said his favorites were Soaring Over California, and Radiator Springs Racers. He admitted he was a little scared during both rides, but he enjoyed them nonetheless. When we deplaned after Soaring Over California, he looked at me and said, 'That was awesome!!!' As for me, I enjoyed the rides, but I focused most my attention on Da Boys faces... Casey's face betrayed his claim that he was 'a little bit scared'... More like scared sh1tless... On the Cars ride, he snuggled up against me, and he was shaking. As seen in the photo below, during the Grizzly River Run, he was snuggled up against me, a little scared.. Little Sydney was especially scared on rides that have a lot of rotational momentum. While spinning on Mater's Crazy Tractors and the Ladybugs, he chose to put his head in my lap and NOT LOOK. By far, Syndey's favorite was the merry-go-round. Immediately upon dismounting, he wanted to 'Go Again!'
